What it costs to sell or buy a Collection Agency through Acquire Marketplace.
Sellers list for free. Buyers pay a subscription to connect with sellers, and a Success Fee only if an acquisition actually closes.
For Sellers
Listing your agency costs nothing. Optional services are available if you would rather not assemble the diligence package yourself; those are quoted based on scope, so ask us for a figure before you commit to anything.

Selling is governed by the Owner Terms of Service.
For Buyers
Buying involves two separate charges: a subscription that lets you connect with sellers, and a Success Fee that is only owed if you actually close an acquisition.
1. Buyer Subscription
A paid plan is required to use the features that let buyers connect with sellers. Fees are due in advance and renew automatically until cancelled.
Monthly
$500 per month
Three (3) month minimum commitment, then continues monthly until cancelled.
Annual
$5,000 per year
Billed annually in advance. Works out to about $417 per month.
2. Success Fee
If you complete an acquisition, a Success Fee is due at closing, calculated on the Lehman Formula: 3% of the first $2,000,000 of Transaction Value, plus 2% of the remainder. A Success Fee is owed for each business acquired.
| Transaction Value | Calculation | Success Fee |
|---|---|---|
| $1,000,000 | 3% of $1,000,000 | $30,000 |
| $2,000,000 | 3% of $2,000,000 | $60,000 |
| $3,000,000 | 3% of $2,000,000 + 2% of $1,000,000 | $80,000 |
| $5,000,000 | 3% of $2,000,000 + 2% of $3,000,000 | $120,000 |
Examples are illustrative arithmetic, not quotes.
What counts as Transaction Value
All cash and non-cash consideration paid or payable by or on behalf of the buyer to the owner in connection with the purchase, whether before, at, or after closing. That includes bridge loans, seller financing, and the full present value of earn-outs, even if the earn-out targets are later not met.
Terms that apply to all fees
- All fees are in U.S. Dollars.
- Fees are non-refundable except as required by law, including subscription fees already paid for a current period.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for successive periods of the same length unless cancelled. The Monthly plan carries a three-month minimum commitment.
- Late Success Fees carry a one-time $500 late fee plus interest of 1.5% per month (or the maximum the law allows, whichever is lower), and additional liquidated damages that escalate the longer the fee goes unpaid.
- We may change fees for any feature other than the Success Fee, with notice before the change takes effect.
The controlling language is in the Buyer Terms of Service (sections 4 and 5) and the Owner Terms of Service. If anything on this page differs from those documents, those documents govern.
